On April 24th at 4.30 pm Prof. Dr. Rainer Schönhammer will hold a lecture/discussion "The Bauhaus and the Image of Design".

This lecture sketches/arranges a mood board of the public image of design and its relation to Bauhauz modernism. The main source for this approach is the role design plays as a dramaturgic element in the movies.

Prof. Rainer Schönhammer will discuss the emerging image in the context of:
a) critical reflections of Bauhaus contemporaries as well as later positions critical towards Bauhaus Design/Modernism;
b) attempts to create an alternative image of design during the second half of the last century;
c) the question whether the Bauhaus is a valid antidote to kitsch.
