To educate artists, who are able independently and creatively use different photography, videography, sound and new media technologies, to implement individual art works and take part in creative team projects

Profile of study programme

The Photography and Media Art programme provides high-quality and innovative studies that combine art and technology. The programme is to educate artists who are able to independently and creatively use various photography, videography, audio and new media technologies, implement individual works of art and participate in collective creative projects. Developing professional expertise, students study art theory and practice, execute works of art. Discussing various aspects of art works students are fostered to get acquainted with the tendencies of media art practice. As new media is becoming more relevant, students should be able to research the newest technologies and use them in artistic practise. Students can develop projects on a broad scale of expression, from analog photography to hybrid media forms or interdisciplinary art practices, and actively participate in artistic activities inside and outside the Academy. The study programme uses various forms of active learning: participation in exhibition activities, discussions, seminars, meetings with professionals in the field of studies, creative and technological workshops. Mobile training opportunities are also encouraged: outbound traineeships, visits to international art events, use of the Erasmus mobility programme, participation in KUNO network projects. Graduates are able to formulate artistic goals and choose tools in a motivated way, professionally perform works with various media techniques. They are able to analyze and evaluate their creative work, speak and write not only to specialists in their field, but also to the widest circle of those interested. They acquire sufficient management abilities and learning skills for an artist's career and independent studies. Having completed university major study programme, graduates can undertake individual creative activity, participate in art projects in Lithuania and abroad, work in creative industries, continue their studies at MA. They actively blend into the Lithuanian cultural context and influence the processes of contemporary art.

The career possibilities include individual creative activity, applying skills and knowledge at the creative industries (advertisement agencies or visual design, television and cinema studios); the graduates can also continue their studies at MA.
