About faculty of Kaunas

Kaunas Faculty is a subdivision of  Vilnius Academy of  Arts, providing university education for future artists and architects. Continuing the traditions of the pre-war Kaunas Art School, Kaunas Faculty of   Vilnius Academy of Arts is the main center of art education in the central part of Lithuania for  students from nearly 30 districts of the country. Kaunas Faculty has 7 departments which offer  9 study programs. The  main goal  of KF is to prepare creative and technically competent artists and architects. Students acquire high level of professional skills working in studios, laboratories and performing practical tasks, while critical and conceptual  thinking is developed  by studying subjects of social sciences and the  humanities as well as executing self-dependent art projects.

The pedagogical staff of Kaunas Faculty is made up of Kaunas artists, architects and specialists of the  humanities who have a wide range of practical and creative experience and are actively involved in the art life of Lithuania. The strength of Kaunas Faculty  is the immediate communication of teachers and students in executing   term assignments, consultating on creative issues, and, quite often,  participating in joint creative projects.

Located in a cozy spot of the Old Town,  Kaunas Faculty  of Vilnius Academy of Arts is proud of the growing creative and organizational relations with neighboring galleries (LDS Kaunas Gallery, Eglė Gallery, Al gallery, Textile and Artist Guild Gallery), art education institutions (Kaunas College, Arts Faculty of Justinas Vienožinskis., A. Martinaitis Art School, Kaunas Art Gymnasium, Kaunas Applied Arts School) as well as other city organizations and institutions.

 Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius Academy of Arts is a stimulating space for acquiring professional competence, innovative thinking and freedom of expression.
